Despite the many opportunities available for medical students to take advantage of during their time at university, medicine is ultimately an academic endeavour. As such, GUMS is committed to supporting students of the Griffith Medical School in reaching their full potential.

Advocacy

The Advocacy Officer is responsible for representing the voice of Griffith Medical Students by providing communication channels between the student body and School of Medicine staff, with the help of year level and hospital representatives.

Wellbeing

The Wellbeing portfolio is dedicated to encouraging students to be well-equipped for the hurdles ahead in the medical field, helping them recognise when their peers are at risk and increase the awareness and knowledge of mental health

Social

The role of the Social Officer and their team is to organise and run some of the biggest events of the year, such as Med Ball and Scrub Crawl.

The Publications Portfolio is at the lead of our student magazine 'Murmur', as well as many other GUMs releases and initiatives, such as 'Humans of Griffith Med' and study packs
